On The Road (Again!)

The Stirling Tenant's Assembly are going “on the road” to visit tenants in their own communities hoping to discover what issues affect them in their areas.

Starting in Aberfoyle in April, and covering all rural areas as well as the urban areas of Stirling itself, the Tenants Assembly will be visiting communities on one or two days of every month for the next eighteen months programme.

Said Mary Rainey, Secretary of the Tenants Assembly, “This is an extremely ambitious project and as well as finding out what issues affect tenants in the areas they live in, we are also hoping to encourage them to take part in the Tenant Voices programme or to be part of a tenant group”.

Hugh McClung, Chairperson of the Group, added “ the STA had “shadowed” the Tenant Participation Advisory Service road show during the stock transfer debate and as tenants were keen to talk to them, we thought this was the ideal time to talk with ALL the tenants of Stirling Council and find out their views on a number of issues “. Hugh added, “that all to often, tenants see various newsletters or information leaflets telling them what is happening to their Housing service in particular, but don't often get the opportunity to discuss on a one to one basis. We hope to remedy this by asking tenants to complete a short questionnaire on their doorsteps”.

Letters are being sent out prior to visits to communities telling tenants when the STA members are calling, and as well as the letters, tenants are being invited to an “Open Day” session to come along to a local venue and meet with STA members to discuss issues or just to chat socially.

All Tenants/Tenant Groups are invited to come to these meetings and join in the discussions and lets us know your views.
